Od Speeding ticket I paid for

Hi, I just received a letter from Winslow AZ court stating I had to pay a speeding ticket. I sent them back a reply asking for a copy of the ticket as i did not recall which ticket they were refering to as I believe I received 2 in AZ during that time (1987) They sent me a copy and I do recall the ticket. I also recall paying the ticket with a money order. At the time of the citation the officer instructed me as to how I could pay the fine. I paid, and now AZ is wanting double than what the ticket was. This is a real bummer, My word against theirs. Thanks for any advice you can give me on this.
