Not told about Halfway House Next Door

We just moved into our new rental and found out that the beautiful victorian apartment building next door is a halfway house for parolees. The halfway house shows up nowhere online. The landlord kept telling us about house how wonderful all of the neighbors are, giving us every little detail, without ever mentioning the halfway house. To make things worse, the building is about 5 feet from ours and has windows looking onto our back yard and our children's bedrooms. We have to small children (1 and 7) and are very concerned. We got a 1 year lease and gave a deposit in excess of $5K. We feel that the landlord deliberately did not tell us about the building next door. Is this legal? Are we bound to the 1 year lease?

Thank you in advance for your advice.

Yes, you are legally bound to this lease. It is up to the tenant to find out information about the neighborhood.

Frankly, I'd rather live next door to a halfway house for parolees as opposed to what I might find as my next door neighbors.
