Our daughter is 19 (will be 20 in May), her boyfriend of 7 months is 17. They have just told us that she is pregnant and they plan to keep the baby and get married, get their own place. He turns 18 in February. He thinks he will get a job when he turns 18. He was kicked out of school, lives with a half sister. Our daughter is planning to finish her 2-year degree. This spring will be her last semester. The baby is due late summer. Once she is no longer a student, she will not be covered under our health insurance. We live in NY.
We are very worried and very sad about the whole situation. They have no idea what they are doing or getting themselves into. We are not in support of their decision at all and are now starting to worry about our rights as parents as far as financial obligations since I think the legal age is 21. They don't appear to expect anything right now, but we don't trust him.
