My cousin get sue by a debt collector. She has to be in court in June 5 however she is not in town. She has to attend a funeral and can not be back to attend the court. What would happen if she did not show up? Is the court can issue a warrant out for her? Thank you.

She can ask the court for a continuance (postponement).

But it's too late now. Court's closed for the weekend and the 5th is Monday. She should have thought about this weeks ago.

There won't be a warrant for her arrest.

All that will happen is that the Plaintiff will win a judgment against her by default.
