My best friend is a single mother who does not have legal custody of her son. She earns $8.00/hr and cannot afford an attorney. The father of the child has the benefit of his parents money and he does have an attorney. I think he was granted full custody of the child ,who is 4 years old, about a year ago because my friend did not understand that the legal notices she was receiving were for the custody hearing. She would like to get at least joint custody of her son but has no resources. The father "allows" her to see her son for 3 hours every Thursday and for 5 hours every other Saturday. She is a recovering alcoholic and she has been going to A.A. meetings for about three years. She has very little legal knowledge, Does she have any options? Please help! Thank you.
