"New" Collection Debts

A collection agency called and said my wife I owed a medical bill for 109.60 and we paid it in full. I asked if we owed any thing else and they said our account was clear. I recieved and statement from them today with bills totaling over 500.00. I called and they said the medical bills were 4-5 years old. I reminded them of the phone call I made a few months ago when they told me I didn't owe anything after I apid the 109.60. They said they probably just forgot to mention the other bills. Should I pay these or are they trying to rip me off?

Why would you pay these if you feel rather justified that they are amounts not owed?
