Wow. That is awful. You say the criminal has "admitted" to the charges, but has he plead guilty? I ask this because the only way your visit could have any effect is if he pleads not guilty and your girlfriend takes the stand. The attorney at this point may, unfortunately, try to paint a picture of a promiscuous woman falsely accusing the criminal of rape because she doesn't want her boyfriend to find out. I doubt this would work, but it happens. The plain fact of the matter is, the investigators have two people who say this occurred as well as a bullet in the wall. Big time evidence.

As far as sentencing goes, none of the things that you mention should really make any difference: virgin or no virgin, boyfriend or no boyfriend, etc. Rape is rape, whether it is against a virgin by a stranger or against a wife by an estranged husband for that matter. Hopefully you and this young woman's family can work out this private matter amongst yourselves, and hopefully this guy spends the rest of his life in Starke.

I cannot imagine a judge, in a case as big as this, being impressed by the victim's boyfriend paying a visit after the crime.

Most of the STates have a rape shield law that prevents questioning along the lines of promiscuity of the victim as being irrelevant. You visiting her has zero relevance in a criminal case. A Judge would not even allow it to be part of a line of questioning. Besides that, I agree with NY. Don't talk about this publicly, go see her and take care of her. Hopefully the scumbag did "admit" to the crime. His use of a gun, the firing of a shot, and the theft from their bank accounts pretty much excludes the idea that she "wanted it."

This story is so over the top the question makes me wonder. No one would ever believe that a woman who went through what you described somehow wanted it.

He can still plead not guilty even if the charges were admitted. If he pleads guilty she will not have to take the stand.

I don't know what everyone else thinks, but considering he had a gun, fired it, robbed her person, and her bank I don't think anyone is going to care that she lied about being a virgin.

It's understandable that she lied about being a virgin. The DA, if told about the importance of confidentiality about that issue, will probably not tell her parents.

If there is a trial, and she has to take a stand, it's much better that way. If she lies on the Stand, that's a big no-no, and it is a crime (perjury).

My advice is she tells the prosecuting attorney. Unless he's a total (expletive) he should be nice about it.
