Need help with custody

My 16 year old duaghter wants to live with me. My ex-wife and I have joint custody but she has physical custody. They live in California where the divorce was filed and I live in Nevada. My daughter and I have been told that she can come live with me any time she wants and the courts will allow her to stay with me until a court decision is made. Is this true? I also want to be sure that I can not be charged with abduction if she comes to my home before a court gives me physical custody. Can anyone help me?
