Name Change

Alright here is what I'm wondering:

My father and mother never married, however my father had my surname changed to his a few months after my birth.

For those few months I went by my mother's maiden name, what I want to know is exactly what would I have to do reassume my original surname?

Also as a note (and hopefully not making things any more complicated than they might already be) I have signed into the Navy's Delayed Enlistment Program, I'm going to be contacting my recruiter soon after to find out what, if anything, the military might require for a name change (un-change), however if any here know it would save me a little time.

If you need any more information about my situation just let me know...

I am assuming you are and adult.

Therefore, you have to go to court to change your name.

Name changes for adults can be relatively easy but you must follow all the rules.

Google for information.

Also, you need to make sure Social Security knows about this third name you are going under. Make sure to keep what you get from SS acknowledging your name change for the rest of your life.

Are you even in the US? If not then you really need to ask an attorney in your neck of the woods.
