i think i need some help !! my son is 17 getting ready to turn 18 in 6 days . his 16 year old ex-girlfriend has just had a baby 7 days ago. he is bi-sexual & the mother of his ex whom the ex lives with has threatened to keep the baby away from him due to his sexual preference. i dont think this is possible is it, even if the mother of the ex is the ex's legal guardian? will he have to pay child support in order to see the baby ? do i have any rights as the baby's grandmother ? help help help !!!

If the mother files for child support then yes your son will have to pay. He does have a right to visitation. apparantly mom did not care about his sexual orientation when she had the baby with him, so why should it matter now?

Was paternity ever established?

Dad needs to go to the family court and file for visitation and to establish paternity if that has not been done already.

about paternity...

the mother put his last name on the birth certificate. does that somewhat establish paternity ? do u have any idea what his rights r as of now & for that matter what r mine ? i do think that my son is looking for a way to be different or find his place right now. however, regardless of the outcome of his sexual preference, he still needs to do something about visitation-correct ?

Yes your son still needs to go to court to establish visitation. Without a court schedule, mom doesn't have to allow him to see the baby. He should grow a backbone to her and be adament about his rights.
