His original charge was burglary of habitation that he committed when he was 17. He was gone for just over two years and left because of bad influences. During that time, no new charges or arrests were picked up, he attended a drug rehab program on his own accord (with documented proof), was an active member of AA, has maintained full time employment the entire time he absconded, paid taxes and child support, and other than leaving the state and not reporting, he did not try to hide from the law (he got an Oregon driver license under his real name and social security number, car insurance under his name, entered an apartment lease agreement under his name, contacted the local child support office and made regular payments, etc). He just paid off $6000 of restitution, but did not report or complete his community service.
