MY Daughter

My name is Erica. I found out I was pregant in the spring of 04 and had my daughter in november of 04. Her father told me while I was pregant that the baby was not his and left me. After she was born I paided to have a dna test done on the only other guy it could have been. Test showed he was not the father. Clearly stating the other guy was. I then proceeded to call him. I sent him pictures. We talked for a while. He told me he would do the right thing, only to never hear from him again. I got married three years this July. We have been looking for my daughters father to ask him to sign away his rights so that my husband could adopt my daughter, without any luck. After visting family this past weekend I now have a phone number to contact him. I am confused as to what to do. I just want him to sign away his rights. My daughter is one of eight children. What do I need to do. Please tell me how to do the paper work so I can get started.

You really need to see an attorney. Terminating rights and processing an adoption is not a do it yourself project. You also are going to have to attempt to locate the father. You might be able to place an ad in the paper and if he still does not respond, you might be able to terminate based on abandonment.
