My husband and I put my car in the shop not too long ago to have a pressure test done on it. We were contacted two days later by the police saying that my car had been stolen from the shop that we had it at. The man who had stolen it wrecked it the night before and was caught. My car was towed by the local towing agency here. Since my car hasn't been drivable I let my insurance lapse. Well the shop that I had my car at said they are not responsible for personal property so now I'm pretty much screwed because I didn't have insurance. Everyone that I've talked to so far said as long as they don't have the sign up or I didn't sign anything saying that I knew and understood that then they should be responsible for my car and the damages. My car is still sitting at the towing yard because I don't have the money to get it out. Who is responsible for my car and what can I do? I need help bad.
