My brother past away. He was divorce with one child who is 20 years old going to college. I was named beneficiary on all his accounts, and joint ownership of a saving account. My brother and I talk about how is daughter would receive the money. I said what I did with my kids was that they would receive it at 25, 30, and 35years of age. The day of my brother's funeral his daughter said to me, I want all my Dad's money, and I want it now. I said no, the bills have to be paid, and that is not what you Dad wanted. Now she wants to take me to probate court to get the money. Just because I'm beneficiary, do I have to turn over my brother's money to his daughter? 0r can I hold my ground and do what I see fit and what my deceased brother wanted?
