My baby's father

My husband is adopting my son. I was wondering if once the paperwork is signed, is there a grace period where the biological father can change his mind or is it final once the paperwork is signed? Also, the father and I were not married when my son was conceived, so does the father have to take a paternity test before he can sign his rights away?

Generally paternity is going to have to be established, unless dad signed the appropriate paperwork at the birth.
