moving away with my child

I have a son a me and his dad have never been married and nothing has ever been filed through the court system for child support or custody. I am struggling where i am living now and i want to move closer to family which is 4 hours away, can i take my son with me without getting in trouble?

Possilbe but Dad can always file for custody and for return of the child. Was paternity ever established by Dad signing the birth paperwork? It is a risk to move you could be ordered back. Have you tried asking the father if you can move? If you are allowed to move you could find yourself responsible for all transportation costs for him to see the child. How is Dad going to see the child 4 hours away? If I were you I would file for custody and ask the courts for permission to move.
