Mother wants to sign over parental rights to me.

There is a young lady who already has 3 children and she doesnt want the 4th child which is due to be born January 10, 2008. She wants my husband and I to care for this child and she is willing to sign over her parental rights to us. What is the legal process for this? Is signing over her rights enough? Can she ever come back and reclaim her child? Please Help!!!

She cannot just termijate her rights without a subsequent adoption.

You really should see an adoption attorney. There is always a risk mom can claim teh baby. How do you know this woman? It's a little odd she wants to hand the baby over to strangers.

You should talk to an adoption attorney. Where is the bio dad here? He will have to have his rights terminated, along with moms and an adoption done.

Well, she is a member of our church. the bio dad is in Memphis and she can not locate him the number she had for is not working. However, I will look into an adoption attorney.
