My friend is a 45 yr. old mother of a 21 yr. old fugitive son. The son had been
running from the police for four days. She didn't know the location of her son,
but, was talking with him on her cell phone. The police raided her home and
demanded to know the location of her son. She told them she didn't know. They asked to look at her cell phone and found that she had been in contact with him. The police told her that if she didn't get him to turn himself in within ten minutes they were going to arrest her. She tried to call him to no avail. The police then arrested her and charged her with obstruction of justice. If a mother doesn't give information to the police about her son is this actually obstruction?
