Mortgage file under bankruptcy

My dad is selling his house and remembered that he filed his house under bankruptcy a few years ago... Idk which chapter. He was wondering if he had to pay off the remaining amount when he goes to settlement. I'm assuming he has to but he really wants me to double check.

He should be talking to a lawyer as there are a lot of questions to be answered.

Was the loan discharged?
Did he continue paying?
Did he re-affirm?
Was the lien released?

He can't sell it without the lien release and the lender can turn a blind eye and deaf ear to any request to do so.

Please explain exactly what this means.

Idk which chapter.

That's a rather important piece of information.

He was wondering if he had to pay off the remaining amount when he goes to settlement.

Remaining amount of what? Of his mortgage? Settlement of what?

I'm assuming he has to but he really wants me to double check.

Well...checking with anonymous strangers on the internet probably isn't what he had in mind.

Has he been paying his mortgage since the bankruptcy?

At the end of the day, only an attorney who has reviewed his bankruptcy can give him reliable advice about this.
