My mother is being sued for an unpaid oxygen supply bill in philadelphia, she admits to the bill but the orginial hospital arrangement was for $40 a month because she had no insurance. the bill came and it was for over $200 a month and the o2 co denied having an agreemnt and the hospital would not return her call for assistance. she had them take the equipment after 6 or 7 months admitting she could not pay. since then she has had a heart attackl and another cardiac surgery and now has medicare as she turned 65. she can't make it to the court. we explained to the attorney the story and offered 5 to 10 a month as she can't afford to pay. she get food stamps now because her income is so low. is there a way to just send a letter to court since she can't be there

No, there really isn't I'm afraid.
If Mom cannot make the court date, she needs to have an attorney appear on her behalf.

OP, if mom is gravely ill, there is one thing you can do.
Ask her physician to write a letter to the court indicating her delicate medical condition and asking the court to delay the proceedings for 30, 60, whatever number of days the physician states.
Then get a copy of the letter and keep it.
Next you write a letter indicating mom's delicate condition and enclose a copy of the physician's letter for good measure. Send your letter and a copy of the physician's letter to the court, requesting a continuance due to mom's ill health!
Often the court will grant the request.
If they don't, so what????
Mom won't be arrested for not going to a small claims proceeding.
She could get a default judgment.
But, again, so what?????
That means nothing.
As you said, mom isn't rich. All the debt collector scum will have for suing her is a $200 judgment.
But, mom won't have to risk her health. That should be her first priority, getting better. Or, at least being comfortable.
Talk it over with mom, if it doesn't stress her too much. See what she wants you to do. Then do it.
In the end, just live mom. Love her as long as you have her. This lousy $200 means nothing compared to having your mom alive!!!

Yes, a judgment will affect her credit.
But, she's broke and very sick, so credit is of no concern to her.
I know, it wouldn't be to me.

I stopped using credit 20 years ago.

Love mother, care for mother, keep her calm, and help her get better.
