I don't know what a barrister in the UK can do, but in the US a 6 year vacation for murder is a great result for the killer.
I'd say that barrister was pretty darn good.

UK law can be different than US law. However, a barrister can probably take a case on at the last min. or for a longer period of time. Good outcome there it seems for accused.

The British seem to have a pretty lenient system for punishing offenders. (I read some of their newspapers online daily.)
