Criminal Law Misdemeanor and F1 status

Hello,

I have been charged with a felony for shoplifting in Fairfax County VA, and the DA has agreed to let me plea to a misdemeanor charge do 2 days in jail and 178 days unsupervised probation. I do not know how this will affect my immigration status, if I will be deported or how this affects me when I need to renew my visa this summer. I would appreciate any advice on this and on how to find an attorney who does both criminal and immigration matters in the Washington DC/Northern Virginia area.

Shoplifting is a crime of moral turpitude. If the maximum possible sentence is one year or less (which it probably is in your case, since you say it is a misdemeanor charge), then you probably are lucky if you don't have any other record
