Hello,

I moved from Georgia to Florida, with my mother, into my Grandparents home. I suffer from mental health deficits. My Grandparents, unable to work with my health, have asked me to leave their home. I have no other place to go besides the streets. My question is this:

Can my family be charged with neglect for knowing I have mental illness and still putting me on the street?

(When my Great Grandparents were suffering from Dementia and Alzheimer's and couldn't survive on their own in their home, the state of Florida told my family that if we don't do something to get them into assisted living or nursing home etc, that we could be charged with neglect. Does this apply to mental illness of a 28 year old?)

Please help me. Thank you.

No , your parents or other relatives have no legal duty to care for a 28 year old adult.

If you don't voluntarily leave, I suspect they'll cause your eventual eviction.

I failed to mention that my mother and Grandmother both have power of attorney over me. Does this make a difference?

No, the POA imposes no legal duty or obligation upon them.

They can simply refuse the POA in the future, should they choose to do so.
