We purchased a house in the state of California directly from a builder and we were told by the sales agent that we wouldn't have any Mello Roos fees. We received our current tax bill and indeed we have Mello Roos fees. When we signed the contract we were not told we would have any of these fees but we did sign a disclosure that include the Mello Roos fees. We feel we were taken advantage of since the agent specifically said that we wouldn't have any and used this as an incentive (sort of) to sell the house. I looked at the contract carefully and our signature nor initials appear anywhere on the form that discloses the Mello Roos fees but our signature is on the following page. I know for a fact that when we signed, we never saw the page which included the disclosure of the fees in detail nor was it ever explained in detal the amount we would be facing. Please tell me if we have any chance of having these fees taken off.
