My husband and myself were married approximately eight months ago. I recently just found out that he was previously filing a joint tax return with his ex girlfriend with whom he has two children. Did this make them common law married? If so is our marriage valid?

Why not ask him?
It could mean he is married to her, and it via common law.
Hard to know, impossible to say, you know more than any of us ever could.
If he is married to another, he's committing bigamy against you.
If I were you, I'd seek a divorce.
You may have caught yourself a two timing old catfish.
It might be time to see a lawyer and get yourself out of this situation before he ruins you and your finances.
