i am a 19 year old enrolled in college in ontario my parents have been devorced since i was a year and a half old. my father was court ordered to pay child support, 400/ month while working, 100/month if out of work. a while after this court order he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and was put on odsp. before being diagnosed i didnt recieve any support payments. after being diagnosed i recieved no payents. im wondering what my rights are and if i am able to get back pay, im trying topay off my student loans and my mom is unable to help support me finacially. i was also wondering if i am entitled to any support after my father was put on the disability program.
if anybody can help me, give me any sugestions on who to talk to i would be abundantly greatful.

You are not entitled to any of the support. Your mom is. She needs to complain to her child support bureau if Dad is not paying. You need to get a part time job at least if you have no money.

ok, thank you for replying. i am currently working two part time jobs. my mom has tried over and over again to try and get the support but legal aid said it would be hard for her to get the money. they told her that the easiest way is for me to do it. this was some years ago. right now my mom needs the money more then i do, i am not looking for persoal gain and party money i want to be able to help mom and if that means taking some kind of legal action against my father then ill do it. i just need to know who to talk to.

I am not sure what Canadian law is but if your Dad does not work and has no assets, I have no idea how your mom will collect support. I would not be depending on that money. If legal aid told her getting the money is going to be hard, she might have to leave it at that.
