Limits in district vs. circuit court

Hello,

I am suing a party in district court for $15k, which is the monetary limit of the district court. The party that I am suing owes me approximately $20k, so if I sue them in district court, do I waive my rights to the last $5k in a different court (such as circuit or small claims)?
