Anything is possible, but if you bought food beyond the expiration date, you failed to read the label.
You didn't have to buy food that had an expired date.
In that sense, you failed to perform proper due diligence.
More than likely, you could have taken the food back to the store and requested a refund.
The purchase price would be your damages, IF there were any damages at all.
