Hello,
My brother was recently charged with one misdemeanor and one felony. His misdemeanor was possesion of a concealed weapon. He orignally recieved thiry days suspened on the misdemeanor and had not yet been sentenced on the felony. His lawyer told him to appeal it for the reason that he wants to have both the misdemeanor and the felony sentenced at the same time. Why would he do such a thing? Well my brother took his lawyers advice and appealed it and now he recieved 12 months on the misdemeanor and the felony was continued until five months from now. I have heard from a deputy that lawyers do this kind of thing all the time for the reason that they are in cohoots with the court system and the lawyer will give up a lesser client in hopes of helping out a higher paying client. Does anybody have any insight to offer on this situation. Thank you for any constructive answer in advance.
