Law Guardian for support

I'm currently going thru family court for support enforcement and have filed a violation order. The other party did not show up for the court date and a bench warrant was issued. Two weeks later, the other party turned themselves in and I was unable to get to the court that day. A new court date has been issued, but now there has been a law guardian assigned for my child. Why would a law guardian be assigned in a support hearing? These hearing have nothing to do with custody or visitation, which is not in any dispute at this time.
