Last Name

My fiance and i are having a baby in march and she wants the baby to have her last name and i want the baby to have my last name i was told if the baby doesnt have my last name i have no legal right to the child, i wanna know all my rights regarding this subject, i am the main provider im the only one with a job and the baby will be under my insurance and i will be claiming it on my txes.... please help!!!

Honestly, if you 2 plan on getting married it makes no sense for her to give the baby her last name. I would adamently tell her you do not agree with this. Can you get married so that honestly, then you have some naming rights? If she does give the baby her last name that has nothing to do with your rights, if you sign the birth paperwork or get married bfore the birth, you are the legal father.

See if now maybe mom will negotiate and perhaps hyphen the last name? If she gives the baby her last name people may assume you are not the father. It will also be very confusing when you marry. Mom is just being difficult here.
