I have a fiancee in Brazil that I have visted and want to marry.
The problem is that I have 2 convictions, 1 back in 1999, and 1 in 2000 for domestic violence from a previous relationship with a lady whom I have a child with. There is also an assault on a female from back in 1994.
What can I do to increase my chances of getting my application approved, or am I just flat out of luck. No one was injured requiring medical attention.
I attended a batterers group and have not had any trouble since...
Is there anything I can do here?

My understanding is that the problem exists primarily if your fiancee has a criminal record - the concern is about bringing people into this country who present a problem and potential danger to other citizens. In this instance there would likely be more scrutiny as to the substance of the relationship, that you really do have bona fide intentions to marry.
