Student Loans Is my survivor benefits subject to garnishment

I get survivor benefits from my deceased father. My question is canmy benefits be garnished to pay back my student loan that is from a lender that loaned me subsidized and an unsubsidized loan? All the rest were pell grants .

Student loans, very serious stuff.

It depends on the source of the benefits, your age, and a few other things.

If they're social security bennies, yes, a percentage if those bennies can be levied against.

Google "levying against social security benefits".

Otherwise, why not reach a settlement?

Because, until you do, you'll never see another state or federal tax return, and if you work, your wages will be attached, too.

If its another benefit, hard to say without knowing more.
