Happens to involve a contentious child custody case between the grandparents. Mother & father lost custody. Judge ordered that the children be evaluated by "independent" therapist. Paternal grandparents, who have custody now, hired a clinical psych who only interviewed the children, the paternal grandparents & their son BUT adamently refused to interview the maternal grandparents & their son. A letter of concern by maternal grand parents was sent to this psych with a report from a former therapist of these children with her findings. In 2nd hearing judge relieved herself of all responsibility of issues visitation to be determined by this psych. I read the report which was one-sided; she did acknowledge our letter but made no mention of the other therapists report at all. This psych made a flat state-
ment that while the children lived with maternal grandparents, their mother & uncle, they were neglected and abused -- mind you sole source of info was the paternal grandparents & son & children, which minus the children, there is no love loss between these families. Plus no substantiating fact to support such a statement. What can be done about this? Does the law require that ALL family members be interviewed before opinions & recommendations are made? PS the paternal grandparents are footing the bill for this person.
Further, maternal grandparents had evidence relevant to the children's safety that this psych refused to see them or that. HELP PLEASE!
