Is it infringement to use photos I took at a pro baseball game on my website or blog?

I would like to use action photos I have taken of baseball players at MLB and MiLB games to illustrate baseball instruction articles (proper hitting technique, etc.) which will be offered freely on my website. I would consider this an editorial use, not commercial. Does this matter? Do I still need permission from someone to use the photos? (Again, these photos are NOT being sold)

You may not feel the need to license the photos you've taken to use as you describe.

But, MLB baseball will, as will the MLBPA, and the individual players.

I wouldn't proceed using the photos.

If you do, lawyer up!!!!

Thank you for your reply.

What permissions do I need to get then?

The individual player's permission - Ok, I can do that.

How do I get the MLB's permission?

They want money.
They'll charge you licensing fees.
You can write the MLBPA and MLB at their HQ.
Google both names and you'll discover their corporate addresses.
You can contact them and discuss their licensing arrangements.
You'll probably find it to be legalized theft!
