I am a Canadian citizen. I would like to know if i enter the U.S. without a passport or visa, just my proof of Canadian citizenship, and then while in the U.S. i decide i want to stay longer, am i considered to still be legally in the country as long as i don't stay longer than 6 months and don't work? I know if you have filled out an I-94 you have to apply for an extension of stay but I don't receive one at the port of entry. I plan on returning to the U.S. after my stay and i don't want have trouble re-entering.
