Hi! on May a social worker came into my house because a report of child abuse, she talked to my child and checked his body, she didn't find markes on his body I'm been acused of hiting my son with a belt, I explained the social worker that that statement was false,I alse explained her that my child like to make up stories, and she agree with me, Later my child told her he lie. she had spoke with the pediatrician and the school, she is about to close the case, and said the 4 of us have to take counseling, I spoke to her supervisor and ask her if the counseling is mandatory or if I have the option to say no to it. She told me a few things that are on the report that are not true. My question is counseling mandatory? what are my rights? Thanks.

If social services is recommending counselling, you should do it if you want to keep your child. If you don't you will be seen as uncooperative and not following the parenting plan. Who all lives in the house? Are you absolutely sure nobody is beating the child? How old is the child? Yes most young kids have active imaginations but it shouldn't be assuemd the child is lieing all the time.

I agree something his happening whether it you or not. Counseling is excellent idea and if suggested by a socialworker I urge you to follow said advice. If another case is opened and the record shows your refusal to enter counseling that can work against you

Hi my child is 6 years old, and nobody is hittting him, he told his school teacher that I hit him every day with a belt, when the social worker came and ask him "did your mother hit you with a belt today?" He said No, then she asked: "did your mother hit you yesturday?" He say No, Then later she checked his body and she saw Not a single mark of any kind on his body. Thank for your advice.

Your missing the point. There is a problem why did the child feel the need to lie? Counseling is needed so this isnt repeated. By the way was ruling unfounded or unsubstanciated? that is important

Hi! a few days ago the social worker told me the case is closed and is unfounded. She told me she felt that from the first visit. We are not going for counseling, she suggest taking parenting classes, but that is optional. Thank you for your help.
