I am working on an iphone application for a theme park in Cincinnati, OH called Kings Island(owned by Cedar Fairs Entertainment). I'm not very familiar with copyright and trademark infringement, and the last thing I need as a college student is a lawsuit.

I am planning on using the name Kings Island, the names of their rides/attractions, and some other data about the rides. I also plan on selling the app in the itunes app store.

I am perfectly fine acknowledging their copyrights, etc, and the fact that it is an unofficial app, but I just need to know if I will run into any issues without having their written permission. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Don't even think about it.
They will come after you, unless you license the game with them.
However, you could change the names to protect the innocent.
Instead of King's Park, it could be Princess Place, Prince's Park, or Prince's Playground!

You get the idea?

Whatever you do, don't use the names of their rides and attactions.
If they have a roller coaster named, "BIG CRAZY", don't use it.
You could try "Go Crazy".

Let's see what our resident expert, Law Professor, has to say about this.

Thanks for the reply. And just for clarification, it's not a game, it's more of a utility/map application. Not really sure if that makes a difference.

Okay, why not check with their legal department and see if that requires their approval?
I don't think it will.
You're just creating an electronic mapping application.
