Hello. I am looking to try and obtain the IP Address of someone that made a slanderous post in a public discussion board in a Social Networking site. I am not sure the best way to do this.

Agreed - this is what usually happens, especially if it's a large social networking site. Unfortunately the IP address might only be one piece of the puzzle and you'd likely want email address and other account info that may or may not be very useful.
