My Father died year before last. I understand I have inheritance still in his account that can only be given to me. Is there a way to transfer the money into an account which will accrue interest without me physically having to make the trip to Germany?

That is something that you would need to discuss with the executor of the will or his/her attorney, or the individual/entity who is currently holding the funds.
