Indicated for child neglect

Recently I was indicated for child neglect. I was not arrested at the time of the event. I had supervised visit while my child still lived at home. They lifted the supervised visits. DCFS closed the case after only 2 months. I haven't been charged with criminal charges nor has it been sent to family court. How long does it normally take the states attorney to decide if they are going to press charges? I've never been in any kind of trouble before or had a DCFS case against me.

If you mean indicted, that means you have already been charged with a crime.

If you actually do mean indicated (like somebody just said you did something) it could be months before an indictment.

Either way you should probably be talking to an attorney and not to anybody else.

If you are prosecuted you'll be given an opportunity to plead Not Guilty or Guilty. Plead Not Guilty and ask for a public defender. Meantime don't talk about this to anybody: cops, DA, friends, family, and keep off the internet about it.
