Is this supposed to happen?

I was an Independent Contractor for Company A, And Company A Referred me to Company B. Company B requested my SS# from Company A, and Company A gave that info to B.

Is this allowed? Without asking my permission? What type of legal action can be used here?

Were you damaged in any way by anyone's actions?

Please be a little less mysterious.

Tell us what happened.

Facts and details....

No Damages as of yet, but disclosing personal information like that could be very harmful. Its like Chase giving you SSN to people you do not know. I was an independent contractor at the time. And I never filled out for a W9, or gave any personal information to Company B. They requested the information from Company A.

From your experience what could be done?

Until or unless you suffer some damages, nothing.

You can't sue for something that hasn't happened yet and might never happen.
