If I were a victim of a crime and sent information (news articles) to his aquaintances for awareness purposes, he is charged w/ rape, sexual battery etc. could any charges be filed againt me? (harassment etc.)

Yep. Character defamation, etc. It'll show overzealousness, hurt the criminal case, piss everyone off. He's found not guilty he'll have you under his thumb.

Once he's convicted, though, go ahead.

Criminal charges may not result (it depends on the state and the details), but he may have a good action against you in civil court. Though, making people aware of publicly available records (news articles, web sites, etc.) with the info may help mitigate any problems.

But, do you really have the money to spend on attorneys to defend against lawsuits?
