K Visa illegal marriage?

i have recently found out that my boyfriend got married while we were together to a brazilian girl that he didnt know to help her get her citizenship. i also found out he was paid $1500 for this. he told me he didnt tell me about it cuz he knew i would overreact. and that he is obligated to the marriage for two years and then can get divorced. my question is isnt this illegal? and what kind of punishment could he be looking at if found out to be fake marriage. also can she have any rights to his assets at time of divorce?
