Besides copyright (which I don't think was the concern here!) you may also be concerned with federal law such as the transport over state lines into territories that forbid it (there have been some cases on this). This deals with the federal government's ability to regulate "interstate commerce." Transfer of illegal items will always get you in trouble. With regard to child pornography, it goes without saying...

It is a federal offence to knowingly receive child pornography (See 18 USC 2252 ). Child pornography is defined as: "any visual depiction of "sexually explicit conduct" involving children" by 18 USC 2252 (a) (2) (A).
