Overstay, Illegal Status illegal and legal

Me and my boyfriend have been together for two years now and in march he was pulled over for a broken light. Since he was here illegaly , he was deported. He is now in mexico and we plan to get married. I was born here in AZ but I want to know is it still possible to make him legal here in the us? And what steps we need to take first?

My quick thought is that you can still get married in Mexico and then apply for entrance into the US - it will take several months for this to happen for your boyfriend / husband so be prepared if this is a route you are seeking to take.
