If my ex moves...

When my ex and I seperated he moved about half an hour away. He was not really seeing our son at this time but then he moved another half hour further ( an hour away total) while we were in the middle of the divorce. He had abused me so I agreed to meet him half way in a public place to keep him away from my home and to keep him " honest" in the busy public place. Now he is moving about another half an hour further which puts him in another state. He only gets our son every other week end but should this added distance change the order? Does the other state change anything? It's not that I want to take away his time but I don't know how this will affect anything. Thanks for your help!

Not legal advise:

It shouldn't matter. The position was reversed in my case, and made no difference at all. You have primary custody, so it wont effect you, or shouldn't.

The other state has nothing to do with it at all. The original court keeps jurisdiction over the matter, and will forever as long as you don't move out of state, or lose custody to the father which the child would move out of state.

But, the other state can enforce the order. It's under the UCCJA or some damn thing like that.

I wouldn't worry about it. IF weather gets bad, that will make a difference, but other than that, an hour and a half drive is just a hop, skip and a jump away. Try 5 hours.
