I need help

i am a non-custodial parent with, or has a support order, which up to about 6 months ago i was paying as i was employed. but like i said i have been unemployed the last 6 months' and not been able to pay suport sense my last payment. my 3 years have past and i have submitted and received the my order maintenace form in the mail. what are my options as to filling out this form as i have no earned income and my girlfriend has been supporting both of us the last 6 month's( i am avidly seeking employment as well). I cannot afford a lawyer should i just do as the paper suggest, and write a letter explaining my current situation? and fill out the form best as possible? please help, putting a strain on everyone.
