I have a question concering my mothers case. mymom died in may and didn't have a will and left my self and two kids that are 14 and 12 behind my question is..I went to my local probate office in northcarolina and they said they where unsure on how to go about the case because i was going to have to file a small estate claim well apperently in north carolina they have a childs allowence after a child under 18 parent dies well they get 2,000 in the first year well the estate is around 5,000 and they said they didn't think i'd even have to file a estate becuase of that but suggested that i seek advice from a lawyer.
