My mother in law passed away in Davis Ca in June. She had written a will years ago but we have discovered she never signed it or had it witnessed.
We live in Washington state. She died with little money left in her checking account and debts to 3 nursing homes, and 2 creditors that we know of.
We don't have the funds ourselves to pay a lawyer and she was on social security and medicaid and medical. We need to know how to go about settling her affairs without it costing us any money as no one in the family has any to spare. We are assuming she is not the first person who has died in debt and without means to pay for having things taken care of.
